AUTHOR -- 2026: in the final stages of development of The Search for Gordon: And Other Family Ghosts. Publication date: to be determined.

Each of us has lost and forgotten ancestors who possess secrets and history about who we are and where we come from. THE SEARCH FOR GORDON dives into this great sea of the unknown, seeking the truth about a man long deceased and very much a mystery, the author’s grandfather. Largely a blank canvas when this journey began, “Gordon” turns out to have been a soldier under multiple flags, Great Lakes wheelman, carpenter, teacher, Chautauqua presenter, prospector, farmer, salesman (shoes, cars, oil wells, ideas…), author, serial husband, and always the proud son of a proud Scotsman.
Using Ancestry.com as the starting point, Gordon’s life is stitched together from scores of old newspapers, personal letters, manuscripts, historical documents, and memories from those who knew him, as well as later generations that feel his impact in their lives, be it with warm sentiment or scorn. The choices he made and the man he was generated ample fuel for both.
